Superintendent Andrea Kelly Recognized as 2006 Leader of the Year
Members of the Leadership Stillwater Alumni Association (LSAA) Board of Directors recognized Superintendent Andrea Kelly with the 2006 Outstanding Leader of the Year Award at the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors meeting on February 22. Criteria for the award are commitment, communication, competence, courage, servant leadership and life-long learning.
Melissa Nixon, LSAA president said, "The selection committee was unanimous in their decision that Dr. Kelly has utilized her Leadership Stillwater experience to serve in an extremely important leadership position in our community."
In July 2004, Dr. Andrea Kelly began her duties as Superintendent and Chief Executive Officer of Meridian Technology Center. Over the past twenty-four years, her experience at Meridian Technology Center has included serving as Deputy Superintendent and Chief Operating Officer and as Assistant Superintendent.
Dr. Kelly holds a BS and MS degree in Business Education and a doctorate in educational administration from Oklahoma State University. She currently serves as Chairman of the Joint Board of Directors for the Oklahoma Technology & Research Park and board member for OSU's Center for Innovation and Economic Development, Inc.
Dr. Kelly is a member of numerous local, state and national professional and service organizations and associations. She currently serves as the Vice President of the Oklahoma Career Tech Superintendents Organization.
Dr. Kelly is a graduate of Leadership Stillwater and the Oklahoma State Department of Vocational-Technical Education Adult Coordinators' Certification Program. In April 2006, Dr. Kelly was the recipient of the Oklahoma School Public Relations Association 2006 Administrator of the Year Award.
The Leadership Stillwater Alumni Association provides a forum for interaction of the members and to foster leadership for the Stillwater community. Members play a vital role in supporting the Leadership Stillwater program through the Leadership Stillwater Steering Committee and encouraging others to apply for participation in the program. The Leadership Stillwater Alumni Association is also the organization that coordinates and funds the Stillwater's Leadership Tomorrow program for Stillwater High School Juniors and the Leadership Public Speaking Contest at the Stillwater Junior High.
