The Leadership Stillwater Alumni Association presents a Leader of the Year award each year to a member of our community who demonstrates exceptional leadership in the Stillwater community. The award winner will be presented at the LSAA Annual Meeting and will receive a free lifetime membership to the LSAA and are asked to make appearances at special events in the following year.

Basic leadership qualities we look for in the candidates include

1. Commitment. A leader is committed to establishing programs to develop leaders for the future.
2. Communication. A leader possesses the willingness to listen. He/she is able to communicate effectively and elicit action.
3. Competence. A leader has the ability to think, plan, and successfully carry out a project.
4. Courage. A leader has the courage to let go of the familiar and forge ahead into a new territory.
5. Servant Leadership. A leader puts the needs of others ahead of personal desire or agenda.
6. Life Long Learning. A leader listens and maintains a willingness to admit that he/she doesn’t know everything.
